Bannari Amman Educational Trust was established in 1995 with a vision to create educational facilities for students in rural areas. In pursuance of the vision, the Trust started Bannari Amman Institute of Technology (BIT) in 1996 at Sathyamangalam. The institution offers 19 Undergraduate programmes and 5 Postgraduate programmes in Engineering and Technology,Management, and 13 Ph.D. programmes of Engineering and Technology. BIT is an autonomous institution affiliated to Anna University, Chennai, and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE),New Delhi, accredited by NAAC with an ‘A+’ Grade (CGPA of 3.36 on a 4-point scale) in the third cycle. Furthermore, 13 departments at BIT have received accreditation from the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), and 8 of the undergraduate programs are accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET-UK).
The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in the year 1996 and offers an Undergraduate Programme (B.E.) in Mechanical Engineering which is accredited by NBA, New Delhi and IET - UK. The department also offers a Postgraduate Programme (M.E.) in Industrial Safety Engineering and a Ph.D. programme. The department is equipped with excellent laboratory facilities since inception.
Department of Automobile Engineering was started in the year 2014. The department offers 4-year Undergraduate programme, B.E. Automobile Engineering. The department is equipped with modern laboratories and computing facilities. The department has international accreditation from IET UK & NBA,New Delhi.
The Department of Aeronautical Engineering was started in 2008. The department offers a 4-year undergraduate programme, B.E. Aeronautical Engineering. The department has a team of highly qualified, dedicated and motivated faculty and well-equipped laboratories. The department prepares the graduates to undertake design, research and maintenance activities as their careers in aeronautical and aerospace engineering.
The Department of Civil Engineering was started in the
year 2001 and presently it offers under graduate
program in Civil Engineering and post graduate
program in Structural Engineering. The Department has
qualified faculty members with excellent academic
records. The Department is equipped with excellent
laboratory facilities since its inception. It has been
approved by NBA for a period of five years and has A+
Grade ranking in NAAC.
The Mechatronics Engineering department was started
in the year 2012. The department offers fouryear B.E.
Mechatronics Engineering. The department has a team
of highly qualified, dedicated and motivated faculty
members and well equipped laboratories. The
department has international accreditation from IET UK
& NBA, New Delhi.
